What modern architecture do you think would last like the Egyptian pyramids?

Public Comments

  1. The World Trade Center
  2. GOOGLE IT!!!!!!
  3. pyramids? lol if it worked then i should work now
  4. anything that wasn't bombed by terrorists.
  5. Porcelain things like toilets.
  6. The new world trade center is going to be built like no other building in history. Other than that id say the Eiffel tower.
  7. the luxor hotel in vegas
  8. The Hoover Dam is actually expected to outlast all human structures.
  9. Graceland!
  10. i think it would be the eiffel tower......umm...or maybe sea world!!!!:P
  11. A stone building in a desert climate. I'd say some of the buildings in Las Vegas.
  12. Nothing that large is as stable or durable as a pyramid shape of stones. ..but that Hoover Dam is close.
  13. Nothing currently.
  14. If you mean a large building that is up right now and is world famous, then I would say NONE. The leaning tower of Pisa is gonna fall in years to come, and sky-scrapers are tall, so will fall eventually. Pyramids are in such a shape that they cannot "fall", but only erode after millions of years. If you meant you want to build your own pyramide for school or something, then just use the classic sugar cubes ;)
  15. Housing projects made entirely out of poured concrete.
  16. There are a few materials that might last, but there are few structures that will be here in 1000 years. Some metal, glass, brick, concrete etc... I don't think that very many structures will last that long. I would have to say that the monuments in DC would probably stay.
  17. Eiffel tower or some building is Dubai, but not as long as the pyramids! i mean they don't make it like that and people put bombs and staff so nothing really!
  18. Nothing at the moment. All the modern structures are built with steel and iron as a major structural support. these metals will deteriorate in a short time comparing with the stone construction of the pyramids. All this modern buildings need serious maintenance in order to be preserved for the future.
  19. Definitely the way the Spanish-colonial perfected the art of using arches as breezeways to keep houses cool.
  20. The containment dome at the nuclear power plant in Seabrook, NH was built to survive a direct hit from a fighter jet. When it was built Pease Air Force Base was still up and running only a few miles away. The cold war was still going, too. Between those factors and a major population center (Boston) quite close it was considered a possible target for attack. At the time of construction it was the strongest building in the world. I don't know if it still has that distinction.
