What would you consider to be the MUST SEE architecture in europe?
I'm a student interested in architecture and I'm making a trip to europe. What would you consider to be the top 10 architectural sites there? I'd like to see some modern architecture like Villa Savoye and the Guggenheim, but what other modernist works are out there? Also, making a trip to San Francisco this winter. Any architecture suggestions in that region?

- I don't know much about modern architecture, but the classics are always important to see too. The Old Town Square in Prague The Acropolis in Athens The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia in Istanbul The Coliseum in Rome The pyramids in front of the Louvre were built by IM Pei. If you like his works, you would probably enjoy seeing them.
- Berlin has certainly become a mecca for architecture students and aficionados of modern buildings. The city is a showcase of the 20th century and presents an incredible array of all styles. Several of the most important architects have built there; Gehry, Libeskind, I.M Pei, Foster.
- La Segrada Familia - Barcelona, Spain Old Town Square - Prague, Czech Rep Notre Dame Cathedral - Paris, France Eiffel Tower - Paris, France The Acropolis - Athens, Greece Colisseum - Rome, Italy St Paul's Basilica - Vatican in Rome Gothic Cathedral - Cologne, Germany Both cities of Berlin(Germany) and Rotterdam(The Netherlands) has some great modern works of architecture! The Hagia Sofia - (The Blue Mosque) in Istanbul [Note: Istanbul is technically not part of Europe[so it can't be categorised as a European city] and I don't care what the US says! Istanbul is a city in Turkey, and Turkey is not a European nation! Even the nationals there will tell u. It was known as 'Asia Minor' up until the the early part of the 20th C!
